What Age Will We Be in Heaven?

One of the most fascinating questions believers often ask is: “What age will I be in eternity?”

Will babies who died young remain babies?
Will the elderly stay aged?
Will everyone look about the same?

Though the Bible doesn’t give a direct answer, it gives powerful clues that suggest what our resurrection age will be like.

1. Eternal Life Means Perfect Wholeness

  • No Decay, No Diminishing
Paul describes the resurrection body in 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 as “imperishable” and “glorious.” Aging, weakness, and disease will not carry over into eternity.

  • Made Like Christ
1 John 3:2 says: “When Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” Since Jesus rose at the prime of His life, it’s a hint that our bodies will reflect full maturity and perfection.

Eternity isn’t about childhood, old age, or decay; it’s about the full flowering of human life in Christ.

2. What About Children Who Die Young?

This is often the most tender question. Scripture assures us that:

  • David’s Confidence
When David’s infant son died, he declared, “I shall go to him, but he will not return to me” (2 Samuel 12:23). David expected to recognize and be reunited with his child.

  • From Innocence to Maturity
It seems that babies and children who die will be raised to full maturity in Christ, reflecting God’s design for humanity to flourish.

The childlike spirit is honored (Matthew 18:3), but eternal life is not eternal infancy. Instead, it’s eternal maturity with childlike purity.

3. What About the Elderly?

  • Renewed, Not Diminished
Isaiah 40:31 promises that those who wait on the Lord will “renew their strength.” Eternity will not preserve frailty but restore vigor.

  • Moses’ Example
At 120, Moses’ “eyes were not dim nor his strength gone” (Deuteronomy 34:7). That’s a glimpse of what it means to be preserved in strength by God.

Eternity is not about wrinkles or weakness but about youthful strength with eternal glory.

4. Likely Age in Eternity?

Theologians through the centuries have suggested:

  • The Prime of Life
Many believe we will be in the “perfect age” of human maturity, often imagined as around 30-33 years old (the age of Jesus at His death and resurrection).

  • No Age Limitation
But the resurrection body is more than a “frozen age.” It will be timeless maturity, free from the passage of time, yet fully recognizable as ourselves.

Age in eternity is not about numbers but about wholeness, strength, and beauty perfected in Christ.

5. Why This Gives Us Hope

  • Babies who died will not be lost in eternal infancy.

  • The elderly will not limp into heaven; they will leap in renewed strength.

  • Every believer will carry the prime of life, forever free from decay.

As C.S. Lewis imagined in The Great Divorce, eternity is where every step makes us more alive, not less.

Conclusion

In eternity, we won’t ask “How old are you?” because age will no longer measure us.

We will be eternally young, eternally mature, and eternally whole.
The perfection of humanity in Christ will be our forever “age.”

The best version of you, the version God always intended, is the version you will be in eternity.
